OUR FOUNDER
Who is our founder?
Carlos Peña, was born in the city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
His story originates in a small and humble neighborhood called “La Fe” next to the Quisqueya Stadium where every night it’s lights used to shine over Carlos’ home and filled his heart with the dream of becoming a professional baseball player.
His family immigrated to the United States when he was 14 years old. In 1998, after overcoming insurmountable odds, he was drafted by the Texas Rangers with the 10th pick in the first round out of Northeastern University, where he was studying engineering.
Carlos went on to play for 14 seasons in the Major Leagues, becoming an All-Star, an AL home run champion, winning a gold glove, a silver slugger award, a comeback player of the year award and establishing numerous Tampa Bay Rays’ records that still stand today. Upon retiring from the field, he went back and finished his degree at NU. Carlos is now an analyst for the MLB Network and the Marquee Sports Network.
His ongoing journey of faith, tenacity and resilience in pursuit of meaningful triumph has led to the trend PLÁKATA!
